My name is Doug Santo. I provide photographic services in the southern California area. I specialize in architectural photography, commercial photography, and portrait photography.

Doug Santo comes to the photography profession with a background in engineering geology and geotechnical engineering. Doug is a licensed professional geologist, certified engineering geologist, and certified hydrogeologist in California and two other states. Doug was in a senior management role at three respected geologic and geotechnical consultant companies in southern California. Doug was Principal Geologist at Converse Consultants, President and CEO of Arroyo Geotechnical and Principal at R.T. Frankian & Associates. Doug's career in the earth sciences spanned 25 years. Doug managed major infrastructure and construction projects for public and private sector clients. Doug interacted with a variety of disciplines and design professionals for projects ranging from high-rise buildings to hard-rock tunnels. Doug managed the design and construction phases of more than 10 large planned communities.   Doug's background in the earth sciences, building siting and design, construction management, and small business inform his approach to architectural photography.   Doug has a special interest in religious architecture. He has photographed more than 50 historic churches and temples in southern California from Ventura to San Diego. Many of these houses of worship are highlighted on this website. Doug is working on a book discussing the interesting aspects of these structures and highlighting his photography.   Doug is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers. He resides in Pasadena, California with his wife and four cats. He designs and builds custom hardwood furniture in his spare time.
